Release of a €2 coin
February 2017
Rodin in everyone’s pocket! As of February 2017, a €2 coin bearing the image of The Thinker and the artist will be issued into circulation. Two other face value silver coins and traditional collectible coins made from gold and silver will also be released. Each of these coins designed in the French Mint’s workshops in Paris is the result of a lengthy process of fine artistic craftsmanship. The artistic director of the French Mint’s engraving workshop in Paris has taken on the delicate mission of interpreting Rodin’s work on a surface measuring just tenths of a millimetre.
